Dr. Lynda Mandell is a board certified psychiatrist  who provides both psychotherapy and medication management (psychopharmacology). She also provides
specialized weight managment services.
She treats adults, young adults and adolescents and addresses all types of psychiatric issues and conditions. Dr. Mandell's professional mission is to address the needs
of her patients with compassion, guided by the principles of Safety and Quality of Life.  She recognizes the importance of coordination of care and works closely with other physicians and allied medical and non-medical professionals for the patient's overall well-being and to optimize a successful outcome of  therapy.

Dr. Mandell  is a highly skilled psychotherapist. She believes strongly in the importance of psychotherapy (talk therapy) in the overall treatment plan. She spends time with her patients to get to know them, their medical history, background, family and significant others and their daily life stressors. Accordingly, in her treatment approach to her patients, she formulates a comprehensive management plan tailored to the specific needs of the patient. She provides Individual, couples and family therapy. She uses different treatment therapeutic approaches and methodologies, including  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Dr. Mandell does not pressure her patients to take medications, but when clinically indicated, she recommends, and is fully trained and skilled to  prescribe and closely monitor, medications for a full range of psychological and biological conditions. Before prescribing any medication, she spends time with each patient to provide the clinical rationale for and side effects associated with the medication and  addresses any questions or concerns related to the medication regimen.

While Dr. Mandell has an extensive background as a medical doctor and as a traditionally trained psychiatrist, and routinely employs this experience in her practice,

she also values the role that integrative medicine may play in the healing and maintenance of overall well-being, with its emphasis on hormonal balance, sleep and nutrition and  mind/body/spirit alliance. As such, she is supportive of the use of herbal and nutritional supplements and often blends Complementary and Alternative therapies and modalities into her treatment plans, for those patients who express interest.

Dr. Mandell is dual boarded by the American College of Medical Specialties in both radiation oncologist and psychiatry. This combination in expertise has allowed her a deeper appreciation of and respect for the importance of dealing with the whole individual and not just a psychiatric issue in a vacuum.
In addition to English, Dr. Mandell is fluent in Spanish. She maintains medical licenses in the states of New York, New Jersey and Florida.
