Dr. Mandell has been an actively
practicing physician for over 30 years. She has published extensively and has received multiple honors for
her contributions to the medical community. She currently maintains medical licenses in the states of New York, New Jersey
Dr. Mandell began her medical career as an oncologist in the subspecialty of Radiation Oncology as
a resident at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She next served at Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center as chief resident and then as an attending physician. In 1990, she joined the medical staff of
the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, where she was an attending physician, Vice Chairman of the Dept. of
Radiation Oncology and a full professor of Radiation Oncology and Pediatrics.
She went on to complete residency training
in Psychiatry to be better prepared to treat the psychological needs of her cancer patients. . After years of experience as
an attending psychiatrist at a major psychiatric facility in New Jersey, she opened a private psychiatry practice
in New York City. She continued to practice Radiation Oncology, joining a nationally acclaimed multidisciplinary
cancer group (NNJCA) of the Hackensack University Medical Center. In 2009, she decided to discontinue her oncology
work to dedicate herself to her psychiatric practice on a full-time basis.
With increasing recognition of the significant impact of unaddressed
weight problems on the emotional wellbeing of her patients, Dr. Mandell decided to commit to specialized training and
ongoing education in the field of medicine dedicated to weight management. In 2017, she expanded her medical practice
to include this area.
